The name ‘Tia Wardley’ has been mentioned several times over the past few months in Coronation Street in connection with Becky Swain’s murder case.
The late wife of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), Becky was also a police officer who died on duty when she was mowed down by a getaway car at the scene of a robbery.
Earlier this year, Lisa revealed to stunned Carla Connor (Alison King) that in the days leading up to her death, Becky had been under investigation for corruption, leading Lisa to admit that maybe she hadn’t known her at all.
Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) was horrified when she uncovered the truth about the investigation and decided to visit Logan Radcliffe in prison for answers.
Logan’s brother Matty had previously alluded to them being involved in the robbery that led to Becky’s death, and this was later confirmed when Mason Radcliffe handed stolen items from the evidence list to the police.
When Betsy’s visit to the prison didn’t bring her any answers, the family agreed not to get involved with Logan again.
However, after Craig Tinker’s death brought up a lot of unresolved trauma for Lisa, and she was instructed to undergo a course of therapy, Carla decided to take it upon herself to get her some answers.
Visiting Logan in prison, she got very little information out of him, except for the name ‘Tia Wardley’.
Who is Tia Wardley in Coronation Street?
Carla wasted no time in researching Tia Wardley, assuming she had something to do with Becky’s corruption case and subsequent death.
However, her online search brought up very little, and she realised that Logan had likely taken her for a ride.
When she confessed this to Lisa, they agreed to drop the matter entirely, especially as DI Costello had told Lisa that the corruption case against Becky had been dropped entirely.
Because of this, Tia Wardley’s identity has since remained a mystery.
Earlier this week, Lisa was stunned to find her name scribbled on a piece of paper in Carla’s handwriting among their recycling.
This caused an almighty row between the couple, with Lisa expressing her betrayal at Carla continuing to look into the mystery woman.
Carla was quick to argue that the piece of paper was old, but it was clear that Lisa didn’t quite believe her.
Following her proposal to Carla in more recent scenes, Lisa got chatting to colleague DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), and during the conversation, she let Tia’s name slip.
This encouraged Kit to continue digging into Logan, but his search was brought to a halt when DI Costello sent him home for the day.
After learning that Logan had been transferred to a segregated unit after Carla’s visit, Kit confided in Lisa that he suspected Costello may have been involved in the corruption.
While they agreed to compare notes in the morning, DI Costello took a phone call, informing the person on the other end that Kit had got hold of Tia’s name and had been looking into her and Logan.
