EJ and Belle are getting flirty on the couch as he asks how the “new EJ” is, only to be interrupted by Rachel and Kristen dressed up for an Alice In Wonderland tea party. Rachel’s the Queen of Hearts, naturally. The only other person coming, though, is Brady, who pops in with some gifts.
He’s supposed to be the Mad Hatter, Kristen is Alice, and EJ and Belle happily tell Rachel they’ll stay for the party. Brady explains after she runs off that Rachel’s not super popular, then EJ and Brady both make some digs towards each other.
That’s when Brady realizes Belle and EJ are in an actual relationship, much to his and Kristen’s disgust. The new couple bring up EJ’s bid for the hospital next, since Brady’s on the board, but he tells them it’s not happening — plus Xander put in a bid. Kristen, though, suggests Brady reconsider. Brady can backs EJ, and in return, EJ tells Kristen where her mother is.
EJ hypothetically says if he did know where Rachel was, he wouldn’t be crazy enough to go to jail to tell Kristen, changed or not. That’s Belle’s cue to run off before she hears too many “hypotheticals” as DA.
Rachel’s Tea Party Gets Uncomfortable
Kristen promises to keep EJ out of prison as her mom’s guardian, but Brady’s not keen on this deal. Kristen also asks if EJ will vouch for him for the cops that she didn’t shoot him, but he can’t. He doesn’t remember that night. Fine, Kristen says Brady will vote for Xander. Rachel returns to ask where Aunt Belle went, then they get down to tea partying.
Brady hands Rachel a present from big brother Tate. Things get uncomfortable as she mentions Tate’s baby’s birthday soon, then remembers Johnny and Chanel will be parents, then everyone gets real quiet. They explain a little about what happened, and Rachel apologizes, then assures EJ that he does still have family.
Rachel assures EJ that her mommy didn’t shoot him, then looks all worried when EJ says the person who did could still be out there. Kristen assures her daughter that they’re safe, but Rachel makes an excuse to go to bed and runs upstairs. “My God, EJ,” Kristen chides her brother. He scared Rachel half to death about a maniac running around with a gun.
Kayla Gets Two Hospital Pitches
Xander visits Kayla’s office, wanting to talk about buying the hospital. Kayla will get him on the agenda, but wants to know what he gets out of this purchase. He’s blunt about wanting the drug, in addition to helping his wife and the hospital. Fine, Kayla will back him, so long as he promises to be a force for good with the drug, and help people, rather than price gouge them.
“I do promise,” Xander, well, promises. He heads out and Belle pops in to advocate for EJ. She insists EJ’s doing this out of the goodness of his changed heart, which is when Belle tells her about the financial windfall from Versavix. (Versevix?)
Belle’s surprised to hear it, but she truly believes EJ has changed. (Even if she does still doubt it sometimes.) She just wants Kayla to keep an open mind, then leaves.
Philip and Kevin Plan Out Drug Theft
Kevin (Need a memory refresher on him? Check it out here.) and Philip meet up at the Bistro. Kevin’s been working for Dr. Russell, but the doc’s a nightmare and he wants out. A job at Titan, maybe? Philip thinks that could be possible — if Kevin helps him get the sepsis drug.
Bo’s dying of sepsis and Philip needs help saving him. With how far back Philip and Kevin go back, he thought he’d listen. When Kevin explains how there’s no way to get the formula or make the drug, Philip jumps right into theft. “I mean… we could steal it.”
Kevin balks for the briefest of moments, then Philip promises riches, freedom and saving Bo’s life. “We both know you’re going to say yes.” And Kevin does, with a toast.
Alex and Gabi Go On Their Date
Alex calls Stephanie before his date with Gabi, assuring her he’d rather be home. Gabi, meanwhile, gets a call from Arianna as she’s getting ready for her not-real date with Alex. Her daughter needs money to come home. Gabi’s thrilled, so of course she’ll give Ari money! After the now-teen assures Gabi she just needs her mom.
Alex knocks on the door and Gabi hangs up. They’re heading to The Bistro, much to Gabi’s annoyance. But when Alex suggests going to the Pub, Gabi agrees. Alex promises he wants to make their night a pleasant one and they head out, arm in arm.
When they get to the Bistro, they spot Philip and Gabi eyes up Kevin. They head over to say hi and Gabi asks for an introduction and gets a bit flirty before Philip runs off. Kevin hurries out, too, and Gabi and Alex note how odd the two were acting.
They sit down and talk a bit about the awkwardness, with Gabi telling Alex he’s lucky to have so much family. She then says Ari’s coming to town for her birthday, which surprises Alex, as Sonny hadn’t mentioned it. They aren’t thrilled about her wanting to spend her birthday with her mom, Gabi breezily tells him.
At the end of the night, Gabi admits it was a good date, and Alex agrees. But they both know they’d rather be with someone else, even if Gabi’s not ready to give JJ a call. Maybe they could hang out again, Gabi says.
Philip heads over to Titan, thinking Xander would have been away with Sarah. They catch up on Sarah’s allergic reaction and Philip hearing the plans to buy the hospital. He hadn’t been aware there was still a chance for Titan to buy. There is, Xander says. “Provided you didn’t do anything stupid while I was off the grid today.” Philip just makes a face.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Belle and Gabi run into each other with Gabi out buying birthday gifts for Ari. Belle’s happy to hear she’s coming to town and Gabi says she’s sure Will and Sonny will follow soon. “Now all we need is my dad to come home and we’ll have the whole family back together again,” Belle smiles.
More: Alison Sweeney can finally share a secret!
The tea partiers clean up, with EJ making some snide remarks until Kristen flips out, smacks the table and hits a metal bowl making a loud bang. He flinches and sits down in shock, then Rachel screams and comes downstairs saying she had a nightmare.
She says she heard a nightmare and heard a gunshot, but Kristen promises it was just mommy, while EJ tries to breathe through PTSD, hearing his own gunshot in his mind.
Alex heads over to Titan and he and Xander toast to getting Kayla to let them join EJ’s pitch meeting and make their own case.
Philip calls Kevin to apologize for running off, and that’s when Kevin tells him about Russell going away for the weekend and giving the staff off. It’s this weekend or never. Philip says it’s go time. Kayla, meanwhile, calls Steve and confirms their own theft plan is on.
