The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Mackenzie Body (Lawrence Robb) opted for a different approach in the latest episode of Emmerdale, as he remained determined to escape the underground bunker.
Mack’s fate was revealed to us in last Friday’s episode of the ITV soap. The beloved character endured a deadly showdown with John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) a couple of weeks ago, which saw him shot at with a bow and arrow.
He fell to the floor and tried to find safety but because he knew too much about John by this point, he wasn’t ever going to leave this ordeal like nothing had happened.
The last we saw of Mack, he was begging for his life as John threw a massive rock at him. We learnt yesterday that this wasn’t the moment John murdered Mack, it was the moment he broke his leg.
He then drugged Mackenzie and threw him into an underground bunker, a few steps away from John’s childhood home.

Now the audience know the twist about Mack, Lawrence Robb recently opened up about what’s ahead. He told us: ‘I’m glad the secret that Mack isn’t quite dead (yet) is over. I have felt slightly deceitful over the last two weeks when people have asked me about his death.
‘While I have enjoyed being somewhat of an enigma over that time, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the drama we shot is received on screen.
He added: ‘Both Ollie and I really enjoyed shooting it, so hopefully the jeopardy of Mack’s position will keep the audience gripped!’.
Because John is so adamant he isn’t a murderer, he is trying to keep Mack relatively healthy by stealing medicine and nursing his many injuries. He doesn’t know what to do with him at the moment because if he kills Mack, things will get worse but also, if he lets him go, there is no guarantee Mack would stay quiet.
A desperate Mackenzie tried to create a deal with John yesterday, that ultimately would’ve seen him leave and never return. He did a very good job at getting in John’s head by agreeing with the points about him being a good man. Things were going well, but he then got a little ahead of himself.

Mack tried to attack John with a plank of wood. He’s incredibly fragile, not to mention tied up with a chain, so he wasn’t going to win. Unfortunately, this move also proved to John that Mackenzie cannot be trusted.
He said that Mack’s word was the only thing keeping him alive, and that the lie changed everything.
In today’s episode, it was obvious Mackenzie’s health was declining. The injury sustained as a result of the shooting was becoming infected but with medical supplies low, he just had to deal with the severe pain.
Mackenzie changed tactics at this point and decided to wind John up. He revealed that Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) slept with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) recently, and John was floored. Mack told his captor that he will never get his happily ever after with Aaron, because he’s destined to be with Robert.
Paranoid, John found Aaron at the cottage. He could sense that his partner was hiding something, but Aaron then casually confessed to just spending £4,000 on a new hot tub.
