General Hospital (GH) recap for Tuesday, July 22, reveals that Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) exposed Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) blackmail to Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) while Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) found a puzzling letter.
At Home and Heart, Flora Gardens (Susan Batten) got Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) to open up about the whole Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) ordeal and how she still hadn’t earned Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) forgiveness.
Flora defended Lois based on what she learned and felt confident that Brook Lynn would eventually need her mom again.
In the meantime, Lois decided to head back to Bensonhurst and give Brook Lynn more space.
At the Metro Court pool, Brook Lynn seemed torn since it felt good to work with Lois, but then she remembered all the pain of her deception.
Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) was tickled pink to find out that Brook Lynn fired Lois.
At GH, Portia admitted to Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) that she’d probably be asked to resign from the hospital based on what was coming.
Isaiah wanted details, but Portia wouldn’t offer many – though she did admit this was about not compromising her ethics. Since Isaiah understood that, he suggested Portia should at least go down swinging.
Over with Willow, she gave Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) a hand-delivered wedding invitation to go along with the emailed invite.
Willow seemed excited to become Drew’s wife, but she was still upset over Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) not letting the kids come to the nuptials.
Later, Willow delivered a wedding invitation to Portia as well, but Portia threw it in the trash and tried to open her eyes to who Drew really was.
Portia insisted Drew was blackmailing her and that he ordered her to falsify Michael’s medical records to make him look addicted to drugs.
Willow was taken aback as Portia insisted THAT was the man she was about to marry.
At the police station, Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) reported Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo) missing and pointed the finger at Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), but Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) suggested there wasn’t any real evidence against him.
ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) overheard and made it clear that the PCPD needed to take this abduction case seriously.
Meanwhile, Sonny spoke with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) over the phone.
Sidwell was ready to give Sonny what he wanted, but he made it clear that he expected to get what he wanted in return.
Sonny ultimately turned his attention to Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and insisted she needed to cut ties with him for the sake of her political reputation.
Laura balked, but Sonny reiterated that they needed to distance themselves for the time being.
Although Sonny addressed all the negative media attacks, he had a feeling those were going to stop soon and left Laura curious.
ADA Turner got Sonny on the phone and convinced him to come down to the PCPD, where Turner ultimately confronted him over Marco’s kidnapping.
Sonny argued that there was nothing to prove that and taunted ADA Turner a bit.
Turner threatened to arrest Sonny if Marco didn’t turn up within 24 hours, so he told her to do whatever she needed to do.
Back at the hospital, Isaiah told Lucas that someone dropped something off for him.
Lucas opened a tiny package that contained an address along with a key.
At Drew’s house, Sidwell had an announcement to make.
Drew, Martin and Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) all learned Sidwell was pulling his support for Measure C – which meant his funding would go, too.
Sidwell insisted he’d retaliate against Sonny later, but he had to go along with Sonny’s demands to get kidnapped Marco back.
As for the money needed to continue their Measure C push, Sidwell suggested Tracy could step up.
Martin took great pleasure in seeking out Tracy and pointing out that she’d have to be the big spender against Sonny.
Brook Lynn bickered with Tracy about hurting Sonny since it meant hurting Gio, but Tracy argued that getting Sonny out of PC would protect him.
As for Jordan, she gave Laura updates on all the latest Sidwell and Sonny news.
Now that Sonny was being accused of Marco’s snatching, Jordan acted like maybe he was just as bad as Sidwell.
Once Martin made it back to Drew’s place, he reluctantly agreed to attend the wedding.
Martin also found a letter addressed to Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) that had the kids’ coloring all over it, so Drew assumed they just picked up some scrap paper from the Quartermaine mansion.
After Drew left, Martin sat down and began reading the letter aloud.
“Dear Monica, I’m so sorry you are ill. I know that it’s been a long time. I’ve been managing…” Martin said as he trailed off.
Once Martin kept reading, his eyes bugged out and his mouth dropped like he’d seen something shocking.
General Hospital spoilers say Martin will help unravel a new mystery, so stay tuned for all the curveballs to come.
