Things are beginning to come together in the Yellowstone universe. While we know a spinoff with Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) is in the works, we don’t know much about it other than it takes place in the present day, after the events of the Yellowstone series finale. Both Reilly and Hauser have signed on to star, and we can now confirm that Finn Little will reprise his role as Carter in the spinoff as well
Hailing from Australia, Little joined the cast in the premiere of Season 4 of Yellowstone, then a cherubic-faced preteen. By the time Season 5 began filming, Little had gone through such a growth spurt that viewers were wondering if he had been replaced by another actor! Now 19, Finn Little is set to reprise his role as Carter, the scrappy teen who befriends Beth at the hospital, both of them there because of their respective fathers. After Carter loses his father to drug addiction, Beth and Rip become his legal guardians.

The actor took to Instagram to confirm the news. “Must be true then…” Little posted, tagging Kelly Rielly, Cole Hauser, and Taylor Sheridan.

The original series is a modern-day Western that premiered in 2018 as a kickoff of sorts for the Paramount Network’s rebrand (it was formerly Spike TV). Set in Montana, the series follows the trials and tribulations of the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the U.S.
Created by Taylor Sheridan, Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner as patriarch John Dutton, a man trying to keep the ranch in the family as they clash with land developers, a neighboring Native American reservation and several other foes on their quest to protect their legacy.
The show has seen several prequel, sequel and other spinoff series, including 1883, 1923, The Madison, Y: Marshals. Series 6666 (“Four Sixes”) and 1943 have been in development for some time, but with Sheridan’s many irons in the fire, it’s a wonder if he’ll get to them all.
Little’s other credits include Tidelands, Harrow, and Those Who Wish Me Dead.
