Emmerdale has thrown yet another curveball into the turbulent saga of Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden, as the pair moved closer to a full reunion — while Robert’s explosive secret still threatens to ruin everything.
Aaron Pushes for a Fresh Start
Still reeling from his ordeal with abusive husband John, Aaron (Danny Miller) has leaned on Robert (Ryan Hawley) since his return. Though both admitted their feelings remain strong, they initially agreed to stay just friends until Aaron processed the trauma.
But in tonight’s episode, Aaron made it clear he doesn’t want to wait any longer. Encouraged by a rare moment of approval from his mum Chas (Lucy Pargeter) — who told him, “Whatever you and Robert want to do, it’s fine with me. You only get to live once” — Aaron decided to push for a proper reunion.
“I Want You”
Meeting Robert outside later, Aaron confessed his heart:
“I know what I want, Robert. And it’s you. I want you.”
Though Robert tried to remind him they’d promised to take things slow, Aaron insisted life was too short, citing the loved ones he has lost.
Eventually, Robert gave in and agreed they should be a couple again — but only on the condition that they keep it secret for now.
Robert’s Hidden Marriage
While Aaron believes Robert is simply worried about gossip, viewers know the truth: Robert is hiding a far bigger secret.
During his time in prison, he married Kev (Chris Coghill), the man who protected him from violent beatings. Kev recently resurfaced on day release, revealing to Robert that he is terminally ill and has less than six months to live.
Robert now finds himself in an impossible position, torn between loyalty to Kev and rekindled love with Aaron.
A Messy Future Ahead
With Aaron eager to commit, Robert’s deception is only set to grow more dangerous. If Aaron discovers that Robert is secretly married — and to a man with a jealous streak — their reunion could end in heartbreak or worse.
For now, Robron fans can celebrate the couple’s long-awaited step forward. But with secrets like this simmering beneath the surface, it may only be a matter of time before their fragile happiness shatters.
