Emmerdale star Danny Miller dodged a key question as he discussed the storyline involving his character, Aaron Dingle.
The actor, who first played the role in 2008, made an appearance on Loose Women to discuss the upcoming developments on the ITV soap, which sees Aaron and the villainous John Sugden tie the knot.
As Aaron remains unaware of his fiancé’s darker side, it has been reported that Ryan Hawley will reprise his role as Aaron’s ex-husband and John’s half-brother Robert Sugden after six years away, though the nature of his return has been kept under wraps.
Miller, who himself returned to the soap in 2023 after a brief absence, was promptly asked about Hawley’s rumoured comeback, though the actor did remain mostly tight-lipped in regards to specific story details.
“It’s so weird, the line’s just gone down as you’ve asked that question,” quipped Miller as he responded to Denise Welch’s query regarding Robert’s return. “What I will say is there are some surprises.

“Whether that [Robert returning] happens or not, I don’t know. But certainly what I can say is that originally when this idea was pitched and thought about, Robert – whoever that is – wasn’t part of the plan.
“But… You’ll just have to wait and see. That’s the idea of me being here. Otherwise it would be boring if I told you either way. I can’t remember,” he teased, with Janet Street-Porter quipping: “It’s obvious! This storyline is so complicated you’re totally confused yourself.”
Miller, who also won the 21st season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, recently shared that his latest comeback on the soap was rewritten after he sustained an injury, with the incident leading to a running joke behind the scenes.

“When I went back to Emmerdale a couple of years ago, it was a long time ago that I was winning all those awards so I thought I’ll box them up,” he recalled. “When I came back down the ladder… my knee went back the other way, and I did my ACL [anterior cruciate ligament]!
“I said, ‘Because my knee’s gone, I can’t walk.’ So they wrote it in that I’d been beaten up badly and done my knee in, because I couldn’t walk for six weeks. So she [then-producer Jane Hudson] said, ‘How did you do it? And I said, ‘I’m not going to answer that question… I stepped off a ladder’.”
