Days of Our Lives icon Deidre Hall was the second guest on the new podcast Soapy. Hall had a lot to talk about, like losing beloved soap stars Drake Hogestyn and Wayne Northrop months apart.
After her chat with Soapy hosts Rebecca Budigand Greg Rikaart, Hall shared an exclusive with Parade about them. Rikaart and Budig are no strangers to the soap world, having worked in the industry for decades.
“We talked about everything, everybody. We dished. We shared secrets. Greg Rikaart is my love. Rebecca was adorable. They know a lot about what we do over there. So, it was just like grabbing coffee with old friends. It was lovely,” she expressed.
Rikaart and Hall work together on Days of Our Lives, where he plays con artist Leo and she plays the beloved Dr. Marlena Evans. Hall admitted that there isn’t a place where soap stars can really go and have an in-depth interview, so the Soapy podcast is needed.
“As an actor, I get to talk about things that never come up in conversation. Never come up in interviews, and that I wouldn’t feel comfortable, especially doing with somebody I didn’t trust with the information,” the soap vet said.
The actress also delved into what sets the Soapy hosts apart from other people doing podcasts.
“I think Greg and Rebecca are interesting people. They’re curious. They keep asking questions, and they don’t ask a typical question. I haven’t had a conversation like this, I don’t think, probably ever,” Hall shared. “They’re good. They’re deep. They’re thought-filled, and it makes them very good at this.”
