Coronation Street‘s Eileen Grimshaw has made a devastating confession after her son Jason Grimshaw’s return.
Earlier this year it was confirmed that Jason would be making his return to Weatherfield after nine years away from the Cobbles, with Ryan Thomas reprising the role for a guest appearance.
Following the death of Eileen’s sister Julie Carp, Jason returned to the soap tonight following Julie’s funeral ahead of his on-screen mum Sue Cleaver’s exit storyline.
Meanwhile, Eileen’s partner George Shuttleworth has been gearing up to ask Eileen to marry him, though the couple have been growing apart lately.

In today’s episode, the mourners gathered for Julie’s funeral and Eileen handed Brian a letter from Julie.
Having read Julie’s letter, Brian confronted Eileen at The Rovers over Julie’s life insurance policy, asking her why she failed to mention that she is the sole beneficiary.
Eileen assured Brian that she knew nothing about it until after Julie’s death, saying: “I didn’t know Julie was going to nominate me, I was as shocked as you when I found out about the policy.”
When Tracy implied that Eileen orchestrated Julie’s death to get her hands on the money, an incensed Eileen chucked her drink at Tracy.

As the mourners played Julie’s dream game, in which they told each other their dreams, George told Eileen that his dream is to marry her,
He said: “I always wanted to ask you to marry me so I could treat you like a queen. ‘Cause you deserve that. What do you reckon Ei?”
A stunned Eileen was saved from answering George after the sudden arrival of her son Jason and George hovered awkwardly waiting for Eileen’s response.

Eileen told George she thought he was joking, leaving George deeply hurt and back at home he admitted that the timing of his proposal was terrible.
Eileen told a devastated George that she never wants to marry him, saying: “I don’t want you to ask me to marry you because I don’t want to marry you. And you are the loveliest man, and the last thing I want to do is hurt you, and I really wish that I felt the same, but I don’t. And I’m so, so sorry.”
