Coronation Street‘s Abi Webster is shocked to receive a call from her sister-in-law Debbie next week – asking if she will collect her from the police station.
Debbie’s obviously got herself into a bit of bother, but what exactly has she done to warrant a night in the calls?
“It’s clear when Abi picks her up that Debbie’s had a hard night,” reveals our Weatherfield insider.
“Hiding behind some dark glasses, she slips into Abi’s car outside the station – and as Abi presses her for the whole story, Debbie has a lot of explaining to do…”

The shock development comes in the wake of Debbie’s family discovering the truth about her dementia diagnosis. When she rings Kevin to tell him that she has gone away to a spa hotel to get her head together, he accepts her story, despite his concerns for her welfare.

However, it soon becomes clear that rather than calling from a swanky hotel room wearing a fluffy dressing gown, Debbie’s making the call from inside the cop shop in last night’s clothes.
“Debbie’s recent behaviour has been erratic thanks to both her condition and the stress she has put upon herself by choosing to hide it from her nearest and dearest,” our insider reminds us.

“But now it’s all out in the open, she has the weight of her whole family’s concerns on shoulders. She hates the thought of them pitying her, so has she gone on a massive blow-out to relieve the pressure and got herself into bother? Or has something else untoward happened?”
While Debbie explains all to Abi, there’s someone else on the Street who wants an answer from her. Debbie dumped her fiancé Ronnie Bailey in the weeks following her diagnosis, not wanting to burden him with looking after him as her condition worsens.
Ronnie was understandably stunned to be dropped out of the blue with no explanation, but now he knows the truth, he wants to be by Debbie’s side. Soon, Ronnie arrives to see her with a bottle of champagne and one simple question – will Debbie take him back?

“Sadly, Ronnie is set to be disappointed,” our insider warns. “Debbie won’t hear of the idea and refuses to let Ronnie’s future be caring for her.
“She insists that he should find happiness with someone else. But Ronnie is determined to talk her around…”
As Debbie comes to terms with the fact that her condition is now public knowledge, can she also accept the fact that her nearest and dearest desperately want to help her on this journey – and that Ronnie’s love might be just what she needs right now?
