Carla and Lisa prepare to propose in Coronation Street

Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) have been pondering the idea of getting married for some time in Coronation Street, but so far the moment hasn’t been quite right.

Back in May, Lisa popped the question to Carla at the end of a traumatic day that saw the tragic death of Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). With Lisa’s emotions running high, she told her girlfriend that she didn’t want to put off doing things that would make them happy and asked Carla to marry her.

On that occasion Carla let her down gently, explaining she could see them getting married at some point but she wanted the proposal to come from just love rather than a mingling of grief.

More recently, Carla came up with an idea to drop an engagement ring in a glass of champagne as a way of proposing to Lisa, only to be thwarted when she discovered that was how Lisa’s late wife Becky had proposed.

While Lisa recently stopped wearing Becky’s ring, determined to move forward in her new life with Carla, there’s still a lot of unfinished business surrounding her wife.

Becky had been under investigation for corruption when she was killed in the line of duty, and Lisa has become determined to find out what happened and whether her wife was actually guilty of being corrupt.

Recently we’ve discovered that DI Costello (Daon Broni) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) have also been showing an interest in what was going on with Becky and there’s clearly a mystery to be solved.

Carla has been supportive of Lisa’s attempts to get to the bottom of this, understanding that Lisa needs answers and she’s even tried to do her own investigations by visiting Logan Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge) – who was connected to Becky’s death – in prison.

But that all takes second place as Carla is once again thinking of asking Lisa to marry her in upcoming episodes, and this time she seeks Lisa’s daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin)’s permission first. Betsy is fully on board with the idea, so Carla goes ahead with her plans and decorates the garden of their new home for a romantic proposal.

Sadly, once again things go wrong and the moment is lost. It seems like these two are destined to never get engaged.

But when Lisa finds out that Carla was going to propose, she decides to take the initiative and tells Betsy she’s going to plan something herself.
