Coronation Street fans are speculating a surprise new love interest for Bethany Platt and another Weatherfield resident following her return to the soap.
Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) was last seen in February, when she bid farewell to Weatherfield after discovering that Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) had been unfaithful with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Viewers will remember that Bethany and Daniel’s relationship was tumultuous over the years, and they were set to tie the knot. However, Daniel ended up in bed with his ex, Daisy.
Consequently, a devastated Bethany chose to take up a job offer at a magazine in London and relocated there. In reality, actress Lucy took a break from the soap for her maternity leave.
Lucy welcomed her daughter, Nancy Margaret, in January 2025. She shares the little one with her footballer beau Ryan Ledson, and they also have a son, Sonny Jude, born in 2023, reports the Daily Star.
After several months of enjoying her second child, it was revealed that Lucy was back on the Coronation Street set as Bethany. And in Friday’s episode (October 3), she made her comeback, where she found herself being interrogated by the police for allegedly nicking a car.
While chatting with PC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who is dating her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) – Bethany confessed that she had resigned from her job in London and borrowed the car from her boss without their consent.
Kit managed to get Bethany out of a sticky situation, much to her delight. Later on, she reunited with her mum Sarah, who was thrilled to hear that Bethany was back in Weatherfield for good.
However, Bethany is currently without a job and money, but Sarah reassured her that she could move in with her. But now, fans are predicting a surprise new romance between Bethany and Kit.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Kit and Bethany are def going to be a thing.” Another chimed in: “How long until Bethany and Kit sleep together then?”. A third agreed: “I said the same.” Echoing their thoughts, another fan declared: “Knowing Kit, he’ll bed Bethany while still bedding her mother!”.
Last month, Lucy spoke about her return to the soap and revealed she was “really excited”. She told Digital Spy: “It’s good to be back with everybody – not hiding a baby bump anymore!” she said.
“It’s nice to just be free! It’s exciting, I’m looking forward to everyone seeing it.”
