Emmerdale‘s Belle Dingle and Kammy Hadiq had a rocky start to their slow-burn romance, as she stormed out of their first “practice” date.
In tonight’s episode (14 August) things were still awkward between the event planner and the mechanic after Nicola Wheeler meddled and accidentally swiped right on Kammy using Belle’s profile. The match turned into an uncomfortable conversation for Belle, who had to tell Kammy she wasn’t interested.
In new scenes at the garage, Lydia sensed the tension between Kammy and Belle and enquired if there was some history between them she wasn’t aware of.
Belle explained Cain had warned Kammy off her, with Lydia insisting that he was a good guy and deserved a chance.

“Lyds, don’t matchmake,” insisted Belle.
Later on, Belle bumped into Kammy, who was taking a selfie with a kayak… upside down.
“I was just… trying out a new profile pic,” he began, but Belle stopped him and asked for his phone.
“If you want a picture for a dating app, get a girl to take it,” Belle offered.
The two teased each other during the photo session, laughing and proving that a little banter goes a long way. Kammy then asked Belle if he could take her out for pizza to thank her for her photography skills.
At the Hide, the two shared a meal, but a nervous Kammy ruined the mood.
Belle assured him he didn’t need to be nervous, saying: “Treat this as a practice first date.”

Despite a promising start, Belle didn’t appreciate Kammy’s jokes about her being “proper mental” for putting chili and brown sauce on her pizza.
Unaware of her mental health condition, Kammy continued, calling her a “fruit loop” and asking her if she’d forgotten to “take her meds”.
Belle stiffened, reacting to the “jokes” with a glacial stare.
“I was actually having a good time,” she said.

When Kammy tried to salvage “the date,” she immediately snapped: “It’s not a date. It was never a date.”
“You’re offensive and rude and you just don’t know when to shut up,” she added before storming out.
Belle opened up to Lydia, saying she’d had an “awful” day.
“I was actually starting to like him,” a deflated Belle said, explaining what Kammy had said.
“I obviously got upset, so I just went horrible and cold,” she said, admitting she’s “triggered by everything” after her abusive relationship with coercive Tom King.

“I’m meant to be single now, I have to accept that,” Belle finally said.
