John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) story is heading for an explosive end in Emmerdale with a huge twist.
John has been flying by the seat of his pants since his plans to get away cleanly were screwed up when he was forced to shoot a nosy Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) with a bow and arrow. Unfortunately for Mack, he’d stumbled upon John’s true identity, and it cost him.
John still managed to whisk Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) away from everything he knows and loves so that John could have full control of him. But then Aaron also got nosy and started snooping around the house they were staying in.
John diverted him away from the locked door but decided he needed more control of his husband and this week will drug him half to death.
But now Aaron knows who his husband really is, and he needs to get the heck out of dodge.

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) knows he needs to save Aaron from John’s clutches – he’s always known John is a wrong’un – and shows up at their cottage to accuse John of murder. But John is not afraid of Robert. He stands defiant as Robert pushes him for the truth, when things turn violent and Robert is knocked clean out.
John checks his breathing and is relieved to discover that he hasn’t got another accidental victim on his hands. But with all this distraction he nearly misses Aaron trying to escape.
Nearly, that is. An agitated Aaron runs off to try and find the hatch that he knows has something to do with Mack. John is hot on his heels, marching through the woods he knows well to catch Aaron before he discovers the full truth.
Aaron is feeling hopeless when he fails to find Mack and finds himself at the edge of a gorge. With nowhere else to go he turns back, only to come face to face with John.

John tries to concoct some story, but he knows he’s already lost Aaron’s trust. Aaron finally sees John for what he is, and that’s a dangerous place to be. He tries to reason with John to show him where Mack is and bizarrely he touches a nerve with John, who is ready to turn himself into the police – until Robert arrives.
Robert’s presence triggers the final phase of John’s act, who reacts with instant rage through betrayal. He calls the police and frame’s Robert, grabs Aaron, and jumps.
Robert is forced to watch as the man he loves is thrown from the edge of the gorge with a murder’s arms wrapped around him.
