Something’s clearly wrong in the Swain home in Coronation Street, and Betsy is well aware of it. What began as a simple dig through some dusty old files quickly devolves into an all-out quest for the truth. And that quest is going to get her all the way to Highfield Prison, with Lauren along for the ride.
Lisa’s Silence Raises Red Flags
With Craig Tinker’s memorial pending, Lisa Swain has been in a struggle. The emotional burden compels her to divert her mind by rummaging through old files, but she was not anticipating visitors. Her daughter Betsy sees the papers and begins sneaking a peek, only to have Lisa take them away.
Already suspicious, Betsy doesn’t let up, particularly when Lisa attempts to brush it aside as “just something about your fatherhood”.
She warns her she can’t view the file until age 18. That isn’t going to cut it.
Later, upon Carla Connor’s return home, she discovers Betsy doing what Lisa had worried, digging again. This time, the teenager succeeds in taking a photo of some of a letter before anyone can intervene. And that’s when things really start.
The Prison Plan Nobody Saw Coming in Coronation Street
Betsy enlists the services of Lauren Bolton to assist her in filling in the blanks. She introduces her to the photograph of the letter and explains that she intends to discover what Lisa is concealing. Lisa believes that all is well when Betsy informs her that she’s meeting Dylan Wilson for lunch, but it’s a ruse.
The actual agenda was Betsy and Lauren get into a taxi and drive to Highfield Prison.Within the visiting room, nerves strike hard. Betsy does concede she’s nervous, though she’s not going to let nerves get in the way. Someone within those walls knows the truth, and she’s prepared to ask the tough questions.
In Weatherfield, Lisa and Carla are stunned when Steve McDonald says Betsy never did grab lunch with Dylan after all, she grabbed a taxi to the prison. As Lisa gets the news, there are questions.
