Coronation Street has aired a change in Kit Green and Bernie Winter’s relationship after Craig Tinker’s tragic death.
Tonight’s episode picked up from Wednesday’s cliffhanger, which saw Bernie being kidnapped by villain Mick Michaelis. After discovering Kit was the biological father of his son Brody, Mick went on a booze-fueled rampage and fatally injured policeman Craig.
Realising the police were after him, Mick decided to go on the run and tried to use Bernie’s abduction to gain leverage over Kit. At the waste ground, he forced Bernie to call her son, but Kit didn’t pick up the phone.
She told him that he wasn’t going to help Mick, especially as her relationship with him was still so fractured. “I let him down and he still hasn’t forgiven me. He hates me! Right, so if you think having me here is some sort of bargaining chip, you’re wrong. ‘Cause he wouldn’t shed a tear if you killed me on the spot,” she said.

When Kit finally returned Bernie’s call, Mick answered and summoned him to the waste ground alone. He arrived to find Bernie being held hostage, with her hands tied and Mick wielding the bat he used to kill Craig.
Proving Kit cared about Bernie, Mick demanded help to flee the country but the police detective refused. He instead told Mick to hand himself in for killing Craig.
Though he was shocked to hear about Craig’s death, Mick doubled down and tried to kill Bernie. Believing she was about to die, Bernie revealed that she had tried to contact Kit when he was younger but his adoptive mum wouldn’t let her see him.

When Kit shared that he already knew, the pair had a row which enabled Bernie to escape. Mick tackled Kit to the ground but Bernie was able to make an emergency call for help, with the police arriving in time to make the arrest.
Following the drama, Bernie visited Kit to give him his birthday present, and said she didn’t blame him for their earlier argument. After revealing that he kept the jade elephant necklace she’d given him when he was a child, Kit let himself be vulnerable in front of Bernie.
“Craig’s dead and it’s my fault,” he cried, as Bernie comforted him. Could this be a turning point for their relationship?
