General Hospital (GH) spoilers and recaps for Wednesday, May 21, reveal another day in Port Charles, another show filled with drama!
The 2025 Nurses Ball continued to roll on, and the soap opened with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and her llama, Sebastian, backstage.
Lucy was the typical ‘hot mess express’ she tends to be during these festivities, but once she headed on stage and announced the kickoff to the event, things ran smoothly, in terms of the gala performances!
The audience was treated to a rendition of Madonna’s “Holiday” as some of the hospital nurses, including Amy Driscoll (Lisa Dorkin) and Willow Tait-Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), cut a rug on stage to the tune.
Isaiah Gannon (Swandi Wilson) participated in the number as well and even did some break dancing (although this could’ve been done by a stunt performer).
In typical cringey Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) form, he creepily applauded Willow’s seductive moves on stage, and all in all, the performance was a hit.
Lucy, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), and Felicia Scorpia (Kristina Wagner) were joined by Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), who sang in Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) absence, and delighted fans.
The woman danced to Spinelli singing, “These Boots Were Made for Walking” (by Nancy Sinatra).
Still, THE performance of the night was from violinist Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza), who had Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) in tears, and Brook Lynn Quartermaine-Chase (Amanda Setton) beaming with pride for her ‘cousin’s’ performance.
Still, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) got emotional watching him play, from backstage, and Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) watched on, knowing in her gut that she is right about Gio being Brook Lynn and Dante’s son.
So much so, she cornered Lois at the end of the show and called her out on Gio being her grandson.
Lulu went on to tell Lois that she knew Carmella wasn’t pregnant during her tour, as she should’ve been if she had Gio – but Brook Lynn was. Lois sat there in shock, not knowing what to say next.
But this wasn’t the only bombshell to go off during the gala.
There was a very heated exchange between Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), who followed Willow into the women’s bathroom to tell her that under no circumstances would she ever take Michael Corinthos’s (last played by Chad Duell) kids from him.
Of course, Drew entered the women’s restroom to ‘save’ Willow from Joss.
Speaking of Drew, he was the topic of conversation when Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) announced to Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) that he knew the cut-throat congressman was blackmailing her.
Portia admitted to lying to Curtis all this time and explained that Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) had kept the digital evidence of her changing Heather Webber’s (Alley Mills) cobalt levels on her medical records.
She told Curtis that Brad began blackmailing her, and at first it was no big deal – until Drew caught wind of things and leveled up the stakes.
Portia reasoned she didn’t tell Curtis as he had so much on his plate, and this was ‘hospital’ business.
Curtis was outraged at Portia, especially upon learning what Drew was asking Portia to do.
After all, not only was she lying to Curtis, but manipulating him, as well. Things don’t look good for Portia and Curtis’ marriage at this point.
In other news, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) shared words with Port Charles’ A.D.A., Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor), and they weren’t pleasant ones.
The mob boss sarcastically welcomed the assistant district attorney to her first Nurses Ball; however, Justine noted that it might be his last one.
After all, once the town votes on the referendum, Sonny will be driven out of Port Charles.
Sonny quickly responded that no one could drive him out of town.
Lastly, there was drama outside the Nurses Ball, as Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) explained to Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) the ins and outs of Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) and Ric Lansing’s (Rick Hearst) blackmail scheme.
The two were still at Alexis’s home when she told her daughter that Ava and Ric have video evidence of Kristina cutting Ric’s car brakes.
She also told her how they have Ric’s vehicle stored somewhere for backup evidence, and how she’s embezzling money out of the Cassadine estate to keep them from going to the cops and sending Kristina to prison.
While Kristina looked for ways to help her mom out of this mess, Alexis assured her daughter there was no way out but to follow Ric and Ava’s instructions.
Alexis told Kristina she is doing what moms do, which is protecting her child.
Kristina then realized why her mom considered having her committed and acknowledged that she is thankful to have her as her mother and the two hugged.
Alexis did note that there was little chance that Ric and Ava would want to expose Alexis or Kristina, as they stand to lose a lot if this happened.
After all, they’d be nailed for embezzlement, just like Alexis if the truth comes out.
Not to mention the fact that their Cassadine money gravy train would end.
General Hospital spoilers hint that this might be the key for Alexis to get out from under Ric and Ava’s thumbs , but only time will tell.
