Everything is going to change next week in Emmerdale, as John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) storyline reaches a huge conclusion.
Just over a year ago, John was introduced to us as the long-lost brother of Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins).
To most of the residents, John is a hard-working, incredibly helpful member of the community. To us, he’s a complicated villain capable of absolutely anything.
As a result of the hero complex he lives with, John has committed acts that have put the likes of Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) in danger.
He has swooped in and saved the characters at the last minute, and basked in the glory of being praised a hero afterwards.

We know of course that the situations he’s orchestrated have not always worked in John’s favour. After Nate Robinson had a fight with Cain, John administered medicine to him, but had a bad reaction and died. John has covered up the death ever since.
Most recently, a showdown with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) saw John shoot him with a bow and arrow, determined to stop Mack exposing his secrets.
Mack was drugged by John and placed in an underground bunker. It’s his fate that is the focus of Emmerdale next week, as Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) remains desperate to find his friend.
By this point, Aaron has survived being drugged by his husband but now knows he cannot be trusted. He is determined to get inside John’s head so he can tell him where Mack is, but the situation changes when Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) arrives.
